This blog, for now, is a collection of a few personal thoughts based on several different topics. Some are spiritual, some are not. I don’t have enough expertise in anything to dedicate the whole blog to one topic, so readers will find a collection of life stories, some thoughts from God’s Word, a productivity tip or two, a workflow, a book review, or just… you know, whatever.

While I am not trying to build a huge readership, I do enjoy the writing process and desire to amass a collection of personal writings and thoughts. If it is a blessing to you in the process, praise God!

The Rench Family

My family consists of me, my wife, Jamie, my son, Abraham (or just Abe, for short), and my daughters, Charlotte and Gwen. My wife and I were married in 2008 after graduating from Heartland Baptist Bible College, served on staff at Bible Baptist Church in Stillwater, OK, until 2010, and then moved here to Temecula, CA, to work for my dad, Pastor W. M. Rench, at Calvary Baptist Church. When he retired in 2021, I took over as senior pastor, and we’ve been going strong ever since!

RENCH FAMILY BIO (SHORT)

Ryan Rench became the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Temecula, CA, on the church’s 34thanniversary on May 3, 2021. He succeeded his father and the church’s founding pastor, W. M. Rench.

Ryan married his wife, Jamie, in 2008. They have one son named Abe (July 2012) and two daughters: Charlotte (March 2014) and Gwen (February 2016).

He earned his master’s degree in ministry from Heartland Baptist Bible College in 2010, blogs at RyanRench.com, and has published several books, including BIBS: Big Idea Bible Study and A Case For Bible College, available from Calvary Baptist Publications (CalvaryBaptist.pub.)

RENCH FAMILY BIO (~190 words)

Ryan Rench became the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Temecula, CA, on the church’s 34thanniversary on May 3, 2021. He succeeded his father and the church’s founding pastor, W. M. Rench.

Ryan was saved at the age of five and called to preach at summer camp just prior to enrolling as a Pastoral Major at Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, OK. After graduating in 2008, he married Jamie and became the Missions Intern at Bible Baptist Church in Stillwater, OK, where they served for two years before moving to Temecula.

Jamie was raised in a pastor’s home and saved at the age of five, and always dreamed of being in ministry. After graduating from Heartland in 2008, getting married, and moving to Stillwater, she became the church secretary at Bible Baptist Church. She now serves as church secretary in Temecula.

The Renches have one son named Abe (July 2012) and two daughters: Charlotte (March 2014) and Gwen (February 2016).

Pastor Ryan’s parents and three siblings live in Temecula, and California is definitely “home.” If anywhere else has their heart, though, Stillwater is definitely “second home.”

Are you an associate pastor?

I wrote most of the content on this website when I was an associate pastor, and I have a HUGE spot in my heart for those who carry the workload of most churches. Here is what this page used to say…

You might be in the same boat as me…

with the infamous title of “Associate Pastor.” Bless you.

Most people wonder what in the world we do all day! I, for one, do nothing except play games.

Not true.

As Associate Pastors, our job title is nebulous. It changes from city to city, from church to church, and from day to day. If we have a job description, it includes a lot of things.

I’m coming from the only perspective that I know: mine. That’s what this blog is about. My church runs about 300 on Sundays. My dad is the founding pastor, and, for a while, we were the only two on full-time staff. In 2015, we hired a church secretary.

So, being a small staff with a fairly big facility and a robust ministry, we stay busy! My jobs are always different, which is why I love what I do. I’m already scatterbrained, er… well-rounded, that is… and I love the variety that life offers. Church ministry on a small staff offers all the interests a man could ever want.

I dabble in learning and doing everything from web design, graphics and networking (IT) to management, leadership and people-development. I run the Teens of Faith and am the Music Director. I’m a wannabe author, a so-so preacher, a get-it-done event planner, and a delegator of all things possible. Maintenance days sometimes include all aspects of building construction, sprinkler systems, electrician and janitorial duties.

Some things I don’t do often are children’s ministries, the finances, or ladies meetings (thankfully!), among a ton of other stuff. Our church is led by many godly people who oversee several ministries that I have no part in overseeing, including military outreach, discipleship, orchestra, and much more.

I’m great at NONE of these things. Sadly, they all interest me.

The welcome message says it all. I’ve been called scatterbrained. But I prefer well-rounded. It makes me feel better about not being able to focus on one thing in my poor, poor life.

What can I say? I love what I do!
